The name 7th Floor isn’t a random concept or a trendy label. It’s a tribute to where it all started. The founder, a graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan, chose the name as a nod to the building’s iconic seventh floor. At Cass, the seventh floor was infamous. It wasn’t part of the formal curriculum, but it was where life happened. Students would sneak away between classes, connect, decompress, and be themselves away from the rules, the structure, and the expectations. It became a place of escape, of laughter, of connection, and sometimes mischief, sometimes during class hours (don’t tell the teachers).
That floor wasn’t just about skipping class. It represented freedom. It was a place where you could breathe. Where you could just be. And that energy, that authenticity, is what fuels everything we do.
The 7th Floor name is both a metaphor and a mission: to build places where people can escape the noise of the world and reconnect with themselves and each other.
